Kerry Laws: “I feel absolutely torn by shame in what the government is doing, and I have rung politicians, but I don’t feel, that as a single individual that you can make very much impact. I feel coming along to a rally like this… my presence here is registering my protest. And it also gives me heart because I can see so many other people who also care… It’s very depressing, otherwise, on your own, to feel that sense of shame and devastation at what your government is doing.”

“I am an Australian citizen, but I come from Chile and when I came to the country seven years ago I would have never ever have imagined what would happen here. I think the rest of the world does not know what is going on.”
“I am here today, because obviously I don’t support, you know what the government is doing and I think now, it has become very personal to me because I have made a friend who is in Manus and the situation now is very critical and I fear for his life.”
